It allows us to communicate. Without English no other lessons would be possible in school/college or university.

In English you learn the proper way to use and make your sentences. Instead of just throwing them around and using slang terms left and right you can start using better vocabulary for one thing.
The better you learn how to write the better your essays will become for other classes.
