"You can fool some of the people all of the time... those are the ones you want to concentrate on."

This is a quote from a Gridiron Club Dinner....one where the press will spoof the president. I'm sure there are lots of nasty Bush comments that are fitting, but pulling one out of context is ridiculous. Lighten up, people.

Where has the humor gone in politics? Everyone just seems so angry these days.

BTW this is from March 2001 - before 9/11

The point is, the quote is being dragged up as Bush saying something evil and serious. He's not, if you look at the context in which it was spoken.

"President Bush told reporters he won't see Al Gore's documentary about the threat of global warming. He will not see it. On the other hand, Dick Cheney said he's seen the global warming film five times, and it still cracks him up." --Conan O'Brien

Your article is from 2001. There's been a lot of water under the bridge since then.
Bush and his supporter have contributed the most to the antagonistic nature of politics today. His "I'm a uniter, not a divider" was the first of his lies to be exposed.

And, considering that the Clinton skits were used to push rumors of Clinton theft from the WH that the Government Accountably Office inspection found were not true - I fail to see how you can hold that article up as humor.

honestly i love how people make fun of bush...maybe it proves everyone wrong for voting for him two times! i think the humor in politics is just a way of covering up the horrible truth that lies in all the mistakes the bush party has made.

I know what you mean. I try to answer a lot of questions sometimes with humor and wit and all I get are "thumbs down."

You expect the idiots in the media to do anything but twist the truth to make Bush look bad?

I guess it's hard to make lighthearted, softball jokes when there are people being killed for no good reason.
