I don't think this is what is causing it. If so the alarm would be going 24/7 with the noise. You can try it with it off, but I really thing you may just need a new battery.

Some old car alarms have a second small lead acid battery to power the alarm if a thief tries to disconnect the main battery. If this battery develops an internal short, it will drain you main battery in a matter of a couple of days. Use an amp meter on the power lead to the alarm system. Anything over a 100 milliamps is too high and may mean you need to replace the small battery. Good luck finding it as the installers were known to be pretty creative about hiding it.

A car alarm when on , but not sounding an alarm , should not drain a battery if the car is being run a reasonable time each day. The battery should recharge. The car alarm should indicate on it somewhere what power requirements are . If OFF it should use no power at all. With modern cars there is a small drain on the battery all the time , to keep things like the clock, radio settings and such powered.

I would check the wiring to it and make sure that nothing else is being powered through that circuit. You can check current draw with an ammeter.

Many things can drain your battery, an interior light that stays on after u close your door, corrosion at lights and/or cables, radio . If you suspect it is the alarm, find the alarm cable connection at the battery there should be a FUSE there, take the fuse out all night, see if the car will start in the morning

A good battery will run an alarm for months without draining. Stop suspecting and find someone who knows how to use an ammeter to see if anything is really draining the battery.

Last time I turned off the alarm because I suspected this someone pillock nicked my car!! You could just need a new battery - they can test the power it has at a local garage and they'll tell you if it's fine or if it needs replaced.
