I live in London UK and I love going to America. Can anyone recomend a good place to visit for 3 days. I am aware a lot of people would think im stupid going for such a short time but I dont mind, infact I like the idea. I will allow a day each way for air travel! I was thinking of going to LA, but im too young to rent a car and ive heard the public transport isnt that great. I dont really like the idea of New York, and ive recently come back from florida.

Im looking for somewhere thats relitivley safe, lively and that has quite good public transport.

Any recomendations?

Nobody should ever recommend LA to you. It is too hard to get around and not really very interesting as a city to visit.

New York is the East Coast place to visit. Travel around the city is easy due to a good transit system and the close proximity of most venues.

San Francisco is the better place to go in the West Coast. A much more interesting city with more to do and see, the cable cars will take you through the main tourist areas.

Seattle is interesting to visit, but is really expanding much to rapidly, and is growing faster than the city's infrastructure can manage.

Savannah, Georgia is the US most beautiful city (or possibly Charleston, South Carolina) these are fine examples of early colonial and southern architecture and the feeling of the "Old South" with many modern conviences.

In the mid US see Chicago, Illinois, much like New York it is a major city, with a special charm, great public transportation and wonderful sites to see.

In the Southern mid US see San Antonio, Texas, here transportation could be a slight problem, but book a hotel in the downtown area, and you won't have any problems at all. most everything is near the Paseo del Rio.

In the Southwest see Scottsdale Arizona or Santa Fe, New Mexico, these will provide you with the southwest flavor and have a lot of art and charm with great restaurants to fill you up.

Well that is nine cities in the US, and you've been to Florida and probably seen the big mouse. so last on the top ten US cities to visit would be Boston, Mass. Basically, it is a really historic and interesting city, but a little stong on "see how we beat the British" LOL

oops I missed of course Washington DC. The city itself sucks. But the museums and monuments are great the restaurants and other entertainment is wonderful. And it is very easy to get around without a car.

So the is my top 10 oops 11 cities in the US to visit. Of course I could probably give you my top 3 for each state if I had more time and space

Yosemite National Park. You'll not regret it. Let me say again, you will not regret it. Fly into Fresno. Then take the Greyhound Bus to Merced. From Merced catch the "YARTS" (Yosemite Valley Shuttle Bus) to the park, Yosemite Village. Stay at Curry Village campground. Get a map at the visitor's center and hike the trails all day. My experience there in March this year was incredible. Almost pissed my pants several times due to the natural beauty I saw - birds, animals, but mostly, awesome scenery.

If you decide to visit Yosemite, it will require flawless planning. Get all the timetables in front of you before leaving and make a detailed "point A to point B - point B to point C, ect." schedule. Getting back to the departing flight is of utmost importance, of course.

Come to Atlanta! We have lots to do in the downtown area: Georgia Aquarium, World of Coke, CNN Studio Tour, Piedmont Park, Centennial Olympic Park, Virginia Highlands for cool boutique shopping and dining, Lenox Square Mall, Phipps Plaza mall, not to mention lots of great places to eat. Here's a sample:

1. Cafe Fleur de Lys in the Healy Building downtown for lunch
2. Las Palmeras authentic Cuban food in midtown for dinner
3. Mosaic in buckhead for Sunday brunch (the favorite of my friend from Paris)
4. Vickery in midtown for steaks (awesome patio dining area)
5. George's in Virginia Highlands for fantastic burgers
6. Baraonda in midtown for the best Italian in the city
7. Goldfish at Perimeter Mall for luscious seafood
8. Food 101 in Highlands Morningside for dinner

P.S. I went to Paris for only three days a couple of years ago, so I don't think you're crazy.

San Francisco, excellent public transport, great sights and very compact if you prefer to walk.
You will want to return as three days won't do it justice! Vegas is great too but I'd wait til you're over 21!
