If McLaren would have treated Alonso as their 1st driver like they promised he would be world Champion, but instead, McLaren went into like a civil war fighting Alonso all year trying to get Hamilton to win. Did Mclaren Sabotage themselfs.

I hope Alonso leaves McLaren and goes somewhere else. He should have won the World Champion.

Kimi is an underserving Champion. McLaren literarelly gave the championship away to Ferrari.

They brought Alonso to copy everything from him for their little protege, they have chosen to give the championship away because they didn't want Alonso to win. Can anyone be more stupid?

Well, he himself called them up to join them and he's a two-time world champion. At that time he was considered the next best thing to Michael, so obviously McLaren snapped him up as quickly as they could before other teams could offer him a contract.

It is possible that Alonso will return to Renault although he said right now Renault is not his first option. They want him back and if he turns it down, there's no other top team he can go to. Ferrari are retaining their line-up. I think it was smart of McLaren to take Alonso in but they shouldn't have treated him like this- as though alienating him and leaving him to fend for himself.

I agree with you. McLaren have sold to the British tabloids, believing they will be getting more publicity.

Next year they are going to lose Alonso and a lot of money in Spanish sponsors. Some companies in Spain are reporting losing customers because they don't agree they way McLaren has treated Alonso all year in a round, so Mclaren needs to find new sponsors.

They wanted ALonso so they would have a World Chmapion in the team. They haven't had one since Mika Hakkinen left at the end of 2001. They thought alonso would bring his experience and espertise to the team and hopefully help them win the constructors and driver's title.

Unfortunately they later had a sour relationship with Alonso. Alonso left Renault without consulting Flavio first. Looks like he'll want to make a u-turn now.

They brought him in because they wanted to win a title, alonso joined because they are one of the top teams, with a lot of F1 history. I guess nobody expected hamilton to outshine him in the beginning of the season.

I agree with you, if mclaren had treated alonso as their first driver (as any world champion deserves) they would have won.

Alonso was gifted his first win. Hamilton won all his races fair and square. Alonso blamed everyone bar himself for his lack of ability. Hamilton's failure to win are the result of dark forces within F! that conspired to ensure that McLaren did not win the drivers championship.
Ferrari were ready to challenge any other scenario through the courts, and would no doubt have been successful in overturning the championship. Amazingly the only situation that could abate such action through the courts has been set in place and completed.
In short Hamilton has been robbed, Alonso shown up to be a spoiled brat. and raikonen lucky enough to be a part of the team that effectively owns F1 direction in conjuncture with Bernie Ecclestone.

Mclaren backed the wrong horse and they paid for it.
