I've had him for about 6 months and he has been doing well and always full of energy but not now. Now Martin (the name of the mouse) is losing hair and has some scabs on his back. Only his head and around his neck area is losing hair. It looks like something is wrong w/ his eye but i'm not sure. What shouls I do? I'm scared and I don't want him to die.

Your mouse probably has mites! They will cause him to itch and his hair fall out.

Go to KMart, Walmart or a garden shop and buy some Sevin Dust. It is made of dried chrysanthemum flowers and will kill the mites but not harm your pet.

Take him out of his home and disinfect it, along with his toys and dishes, by soaking them in the sink or tub in water you've added 2 Tablespoons of bleach. Rinse it thoroughly, dry and place the food dishes back in. Put the bedding you will be using into a paper bag and add 1-2 Tablespoons of the dust and shake thoroughly to mix it then put in the cage. As Martin burrows into the pine shavings, the powder will kill the mites. Change the bedding in 1 week doing the same thing. Repeat as necessary.
