I've been working in the Transportation and Logistics industry for 22yrs and volunteering as a Support Worker to help people fighting addictions for the last year.
I've been offered a full time salaried position as a Support Worker, I'm tired of the Logistics industry and often stressed out over it but the money is really good. I really enjoy doing the Support Worker thing and don't often come home and want to kick the dog. (If you know what I mean)
The problem I'm having is that being a Support Worker pays about 1/3 of what I make as a Logistics Coordinator but I'm in a much better mood at the end of the day.
What is the opinion of my fellow P&Sers on this?
Would you opt for better pay or less stress and contentment?
I promise this will be my one and only serious question.

LOL well ask your dog what he thinks!!! nah jk okay...if you can afford financially to take the pay cut then I would do it! and maybe just sell a car or something but...if you can't then you might want to still take the new job and find something part time or seasonal in Logistics (if such a thing exists) just to kinda compensate the income a little!!! this was a toughie I hope you make the right choice for you and your family good luck!!!

I'm in the same position as you. Own a business where I'm not going to be wealthy but make income and am so happy, much happier than the professions I'm trained for. Think of the health benfits. Take a look at your finances. Before going to this job you love, are you financially able, secure enough to actually live the lifestyle you are used to on this new salary? If you have a large mortgage payment, credit card debts, etc. and no savings, stocks, bonds, securities or anything to back yourself up, then you are putting yourself at financial risk. If you dislike this logistics job so much, that pays so well, it might be time to get some education, move on to another career, or get more education and go into this job that you are liking so much.
I am fortunate to have a supportive spouse, we plan together and have financial backup and goals.

Yeah, we can't have you getting too serious on us now! lol
Well I'd say it mostly depends on your financial situation, I mean to some extent anyway. If you can get by on the smaller salary then I'd say go for it, trust me it's important to be happy and content. If you're not happy with your current job then it's best to get out of it before you get burnt out and depressed over it, been there and it's not a good feeling. That would be why I'm a stay at home mommy at the moment. So if you can make it on the lesser salary and that job makes you happier then by all means, go for it froggy!

22 years being paid well you should be financially able to take a pay cut, I personally though would see if I could get a leave of absence at the logistics place for a couple months and see if you can get a full time temp position at the support place......some places do, do that.If not possible to do the "trial period" then go for happiness....it's a far greater treasure than riches.

No, i think of many questions could take delivery of solutions that are actually not particular and no. many persons are figuring out on on others adventure for help with are particular concern or wanting some friendly advice. i might could say in spite of the incontrovertible fact that it somewhat is 50/50 here. 50 % of the questions are good and properly worth answering, and 50% of the solutions are properly worth listening too. good day' we don't stay in a a hundred% suitable international, so i will take and use what i will get.

That would depend on how important 'money' is to you! Do you have a family who are financially dependent on you? I guess what I am trying to say is if you opt for the feel good job at 1/3 your present income will it adversely affect you or your dependents? People normally 'up' their earning potential not go down! However, if you could manage your responsibilities with the feel good job income then make the switch!!!

The logistics industry sounds depressing as hell, seriously I felt fatigued just reading your post.
Do what makes you happy, you'll be helping other people at the same time.

If you can realistically live on what you would make as a PSW then go for the decision that makes you happy!

Money only buys happiness, but if you're not happy, what is the purpose of money?

I would take less stress.
