okay, i know the author died of some kidney problem, but i heard his son is going to continue the series. does anyone know when the next book comes out?

I think it's way too soon to know that - right now, it's still undecided as to whether the series WILL continue (and, from all I've found, it seems as though his wife would be the author, if it does.)
"For those who have regulary visited Dragonmount.com, it is well known that Robert Jordan had plans to have the book completed in case he passed on. I and others believe that his wife (who was also his editor) will be instrumental in this. As for other writers, I dont know. Fair Winds and Following Seas, Mr. Jordan. You will be missed.

Jordan told his friends and family how the story would end and completed the main story arc. He left detailed notes and dictations of how things should happen. Provided that there aren't many holes to fill (say, they know how 80% of the story was supposed to go), I wouldn't have a problem and will look very forward to the eventual release of A Memory of Light."
