Well, it was a unique murder mystery. The story was written in First person, and the narrator himself turned out to be the murderer.

Back in 1926, when the novel was written, this kind of a plot twist was absolutely unexpected, and as a result the novel was a hit, and so was the young novelist, Agatha Christie.
