Nobody is FOR abortion. What people are FOR is a woman's right to be able to make her own decision without powerful groups like legislators and religious groups taking away their options and limiting those choices.

I don't like abortions for birth control purposes, but I believe it is necessary to keep them legal in order to keep women safe. History has proven that abortions happen whether they are legal or not. When they are illegal, not only does the fetus die but in many cases the woman ends up dead too - twice the tragedy.

I think that rather than always putting the focus on ridding the world of abortions, we should be examining other ways to rid the world of as many unintended pregnancies as possible, by continuing to promote absinence and birth control, and by teaching women to value their bodies more.

I agree with some of the people above. No person, no government should be able to tell you if you can or can not have a child. It's ridiculous to think so. I think abortions should not be further then 3 months of pregnancy (first trimester). Medical fact that heart is almost completely formed if not formed in begining of the second tri mester so I feel it should not be done then. But nobody has the right to say whether one should or should not have a child. Especially not hte government. And the one reason why its not allowed is because of the bible, its a religious thing that makes them say no it can't be allowed and there should be a seperation of church and state.

If bush wasn't an idiot to get rid of stem cell research, at least the fetus's from abortion would be doing a much better cause on the world like fixing blindness and healing the paralyzed.

Anegron-- you need to get your facts straight- It's ridiculous that you think that the baby's heart is "almost if not formed by the 2nd trimester".. you do know that that starts @ the 14th week correct? Your whole opinion should be thrown out the window because you obviously have no idea what you're talking about----> I am pregnant and I saw my baby's heart beating on an ultrasound at 7 weeks. The heart is beating by 24 days post conception.

If you think it's cool to kill something who's heart is already BEATING after 24 days- then you need some serious help.

THAT is why people are trying to get abortions limited to before 24 days-- which is NOT that hard to do- if you take a friggin pregnancy test right away then you should know by 14 days post conception and that gives you ten days to get the abortion-- not that i support abortion at all because i DONT.

Also- whoever said motherhood isn't a punishment for having sex has a problem too- When is motherhood EVER a punishment?

reading people like you makes me want to throw up-- my Lord... get educated.

There are several reasons: rape at any age resulting in a pregnancy; incest that results in a pregnancy; or if upon determination by a certified medical professional the continuation of the pregnancy will endanger the mother's life. I do not agree with the use of abortion as a form of birth control. Men and women alike should use condoms, or pills or whatever methond prior to having sex to avoid pregnancy not abortion as an afterthought.

They will all tell you because they support a woman's right to choose.

That's a cop out. If you are going to be pro-choice you are pro-abortion by default because some women choose abortion and you are "for" their choice - so you are "for" them getting an abortion.

As for me, I will never go on the record for saying I am FOR the killing of innocent fetuses.

It's barbaric and immoral. And it's NOT the woman's body. The baby is a separate and distinct person with its own body and its own set of rights.

1. If my 11 year old daughter were raped and got pregnant from it. Would you want your daughter going to school getting ridiculed and dealing with judgmental people on the street insulting her. It would be held against her her whole life.
2. Everyone has this thought that all babies put up for adoption get put into happy healthy homes. MOST of them don't. Have you seen fostercares or orphanages?
3. Stillbirth
4. If a mother has three kids at home a loving husband, great family, then gets pregnant again and has a slim chance of surviving if she carries the baby to full term.

I think those are good reasons.

I am certainly NOT FOR abortion,

I am pro-choice, please understand the distinction!

the only reason is because women have choices, and the technology to perform safe abortions should they want one. Without legal safe abortions, women would seek to end their pregnancies either from unlicensed practitioners, or in unclean environments or even in their own hands.

Its a fact that many women would desire to end their pregnancies for a variety of reasons, and thats their business, whether their reasons are good or bad, they have the right to have the options.

I also don't agree with in some countries you need permission from a court, women don't need anybody s permission for what they do to their bodies, and that system would also contribute to the problems I mentioned before.

Abortion is a woman's personal choice. She should not be forced to care for a child for the next 18 years if she is not equipped to do so - as long as it is completed within the first trimester.

Obvious other reasons are rape, health of mom and/or baby in jeporady.

Good reasons: Rape, only negative feelings towards the impending pregnancy, threats to the mother's life (medical, etc.)....
I am for it (only first trimester abortions however...later term abortions are horrible-- i have seen the pictures)...because an unwanted child is not a good thing....plus the world is overpopulated enough as it is.

Many anti-choicers have the ignorant assumption the PRO-CHOICE means ANTI-FAMILY. Which is ridiculous. Legal abortion helps parents limit their families to the number of children they want and can afford. This strengthens and stabilizes the family unit. Therefore, pro-choice is pro-child and pro-family.

Anti-abortion laws can cause stress and hardship for families with insufficient resources to raise unwanted children. Families with unwanted children often consist of a child and her child, living at the lowest levels of society.

And for those who believe that if a woman has sex, she has to pay the consequences. This is a vindictive, self-righteous attitude and stems from a belief that sex is bad and must be punished.

Motherhood should NEVER, EVER be punishment for having sex. Forcing a child to be born to punish its mother is the ultimate in child abuse. Anti-abortionists trivialize motherhood and childbirth by dismissing pregnancy as a mere inconvenience. They ignore or belittle the needs of the woman and the conflict she endures in making her decision. Guilt is inflicted when compassion is needed.

EDITED:
To "34wks only 6 more to go," you're posting the the picture of the removal of an ectopic pregnancy as "wrong" or to prove your point only demonstrates your EXTREME ignorance. Even the most viable fetus cannot be saved in the case of ectopic pregnancy! Once the fetus grows to 14 weeks +, the fallopian tube will rupture causing fast and fatal internal bleeding of the mother resulting in her untimely demise. Research in currently being conducted to determine if the fetus can be "moved" at an earlier stage to the uterus, but findings have been slim and dreary.

Trying to make mothers who have had to suffer both the physical & emotion pain of an ectopic pregnancy because of your ignorance is borderline evil!
