Examples. Fate Stay Night. Recently finished it. I liked the story, was really into the whole world. The ending came along and ruined everything. There was 6 major things that the ending messed up. Basically, it made the story not make sense.

Full Metal Alchemist. Great anime. Ended horribly, and the movie made it worse.

Elfen Lied. Great story. Made sense, was interesting. The ending, sucked.

Gantz. Loved the anime. I thought the idea was interesting. The ending to the show, horrible. It made the entire anime seem like a waste of time.

Then you get the crappy anime with good endings. Though I never finish the crappy ones, I just hear the endings. Like, Chobits, Fruits Basket, basically any girlish ones. They have uninteresting stories cause their simple and dull, and because of this the ending is exaclty what everyone wants.

So, why is this? An anime that has, in my opinion, a nearly perfect story, end on such a horrible note?

Its not so much its the ending I want, but more the ending that would make sense.

Like, Fate Stay Night is the newest one ive seen, the story made sense till the very end. When I saw the last 2 episodes, suddenly a series that was awesome became the worst written thing ive seen in a long time.

I was able to see 4 things right off the top of my head that made no sense, then a couple more I thought of a little later.

---------------------------------------------------------------

Naruto Shippudden is awesome. Though, if I had to pick between that show, or having all the animes I loved ruined by a bad ending made into a good ending, I would never watch Naruto again. Thats how much I hate these endings.

---------------------------------------------------------------
Also, dont get mixed up what I mean. When I say a good ending, its not always what someone would consider as "good". What I mean is, does it make sense? Like Deathnote, the ending made sense.

Sure, a list of good anime would be good. I have seen about 20 series to the fullest of whats completed, spanning from Evangelion to Claymore to Black Lagoon. And right now im watching Air for the time being until I find a suitable replacement for Fate Stay Night.

So yeah, if you have good non girly anime that have good endings, and of course this doesnt mean what everyone wants but what works with the story. Like Deathnote. It had an ending I wasn't fond of, but I was fine with it cause it made sense.

Like the persons who commented ahead of me (1st and 3rd) said. I agree with both of them. Cultures are different and sometimes it doesn't the way you wanted. It might have not made sense to some of us but it made sense to others.

I do however have to agree with you some animes have a nasty ending that leaves us all hanging or annoyed of the outcome. Perhaps that's what the creators wanted.

Like Zombie Loan for example, I liked the story and all but the ending was horrible. It made no sense and it was only the beginning of the story but the anime had ended. Thus making the story make no sense at all.

Another show that had a crappy ending is Gundam Seed Destiny. It had a very crappy ending and had so many unsolved questions. And simply ended badly they should have just stayed with the Gundam Seed.

It's just how they work and how the creators wanted them. Sometimes those kind of ending was better off then the way we wanted them.

A big problem with a lot of anime is that although they follow the manga (or visual novel in the case of F/SN) for a lot of the story, the ending is often completely original to the anime. This usually happens because the manga is still ongoing, or the anime just plain isn't going to cover the entire stretch of time covered by the manga. Because of this, you end up seeing the fantastic stories that sold the manga in the first place, but then end up with a completely untested and new ending. Sometimes those endings really, really suck.

If you want a list of some anime that didn't have crappy endings (and weren't girlish ones as you described them), I can give you a few.

One thing I enjoy about Anime and Japanese tv shows and movies is that you never know HOW it's going to end. The Japanese (and this is my opinion) dont have the same belief that American's do. Almost every American tv show/cartoon/movie usually has a good ending. It's what American's want to see. The Japanese arent that way though, and it's nice to watch them not knowing how it's going to end.

I know it's frustrating sometimes, I've had a couple series that made me mad at the end when it wasnt an ending I was hoping for, but I still pop in the next series to watch. :P

Honestly, I hated the FMA movie. I think often when an ending doesn't go well it's a matter of the creators not knowing how to end it, but feeling they must.
