Your mom is misinformed. Dogs do not carry any parasites that can affect reproduction.
Cats on the other hand can harm PREGNANT women only. And only if you are in contact with the cat poop. If you are pregnant, you should have someone else clean the litterbox.
Dogs have no issue even with pregnant women.
Dogs have been with man since we lived in caves. If that were true, it would be common knowledge and we wouldn't keep them as pets. Seriously, if they harmed peoples chances at having kids, they would have been removed long ago.

No, that's not true. However, your mother doesn't want the pets on the bed. Mom rules at this point in your life. Love your dog when you are awake.

Your mother is right!
It's very dangerous to have close contacts with dogs and cats!
Dogs can be infected with a parasite called Toxocara canis and will transmit it to you!
Cats can be infected with Toxoplasma gondii and transmit it to pregnant woman causing danger to the fetus!
Here are some references for you!
Toxocara (Tox·o·ca·ra) (tok”so-kar´É) a genus of nematodes of the family Ascarididae.
T. ca´nis a species parasitic in the intestine of dogs; migrating larvae may cause lesions of the lung, liver, kidney, brain, and eye. In human infections, the larvae do not complete their cycle but cause visceral larva migrans (see under larva).
T. ca´ti a species closely related to T. canis but commonly found in cats; it has also been reported from humans, both as an accidental intestinal parasite and as causing visceral larva migrans (see under larva). Called also T. mystax.
Toxoplasmosis (tox·o·plas·mo·sis) (tok”so-plaz-mo´sis) [toxo- + plasma + -osis] infection of humans or other animals by the protozoon Toxoplasma gondii, transmitted in oocysts in the feces of cats (the definitive host), usually by contaminated soil, direct exposure to feces, tissue cysts in infected meat, or tachyzoites in blood. Most human infections are asymptomatic, but when symptoms occur they range from a mild disease resembling mononucleosis to a fulminating, disseminated disease (usually in an immunocompromised patient or a fetus infected transplacentally) that can cause extensive damage to the brain, eyes, skeletal and cardiac muscles, liver, and lungs. See also toxoplasmic meningoencephalitis and chorioretinitis. Chorioretinitis may occur with all forms but is usually a late sequel of the congenital form. In domestic animals toxoplasmosis usually is seen as any of several nonfatal conditions such as a type of infectious abortion in ewes.
Hope that may help you!
Good luck!

Don't know where your Mom is coming from on that one.
The only problem could be fleas and ticks and that won't affect your reproduction abilities. They are easy to control with the proper sprays anyway.

If you lie down with dogs, you get up with fleas. Seriously, though, I don't believe in that. I know people who sleep with their pets and still get pregnant.
