4n means 4 times n

b ÷ 5 or b/5 are both correct

12 ÷ x when x = 3
12 ÷ 3 = 4 because 4 times 3 = 12

For number one go through them and decide which one is a multiplication problem. Anything with a + - or division symbol obviously isn't the answer so what do you have left to choose?
For number two b = the budget. So find the answer that shows b being divided by 5.
In number 3 plug in a three where the x is. So what is 12 divided by 3?

1. 4 times a number, assuming that number is n, would be:

4 * n

Simplify it:

4n

2. Assuming b is the budget:

b/5 or b ÷ 5.

3. 12 ÷ x.. Since you know that x = 3,

12 ÷ 3 = 4.

4 is your answer..

Are you sure you're understanding this? This is basic algebra. I just don't want you to fail something because someone did your homework.
