What does meleager's mom save? Who tells her to do this?

The fairies (moirae) told her when a brand in the fireplace burned completely, her son would die, so Meleager's Mom took it out and hid it away. After he killed his uncles (Mom's brothers) in an argument over giving Atalanta (a woman) the credit for killing a boar, his Mom put the brand back in the fire.
