I have been on google and asked my health visitor, but have been unable to come up with any mother and baby groups in the Ipswich area (UK). Does anyone know of any, or a website that gets local mummies to meet?

I take it Ipswich is not a Sure Start area or your health visitor would have mentioned them. They usually run groups.
Try the local rag, we get a free one through the letterbox once a week and there is a diary in it with all that is on in town, including toddler groups.
Also, most churches will run a toddler group in their church hall once a week. Some are more religiously inclined than others so it's worth checking out.
