have they the right for a pre-emptive strike" as we did in attacking Iraq ?????

TEHRAN (AFP) - Iran warned on Saturday it would fire off 11,000 rockets at enemy bases within the space of a minute if the United States launched military action against the Islamic republic.
"In the first minute of an invasion by the enemy, 11,000 rockets and cannons would be fired at enemy bases," said a brig. general in the elite Revolutionary Guards, Mahmoud Chaharbaghi.
"This volume and speed of firing would continue," added Chaharbaghi, who is commander of artillery and missiles of the Guards' ground forces
.
Iranian officials have repeatedly warned the military would target the bases of US forces operating in neighbouring Iraq and Afghanistan in the event of any attack and already has these sites under close surveillance.
They know the Mid. East better than we do...MUCH better.

This is a serious question. Has nothing to do with living in or out of New York. IF there is another attack, doubt it will repeat itself in NY. I've been saying for several months that Iran has something...something we know nothing about...and I don't think its these missiles they brag about. I think that's just a ruse.
I think it is something far worse......

scrufy...
review some history....here's a start
Since the 1979 Islamic Revolution the West has presented, with depressing consistency, a distorted image of Iran portraying it as a seething mass of islamic fanaticism. Those unaware of Iran 's history could be forgiven for believing that Iran knows nothing but Islam. The reality is far more complex and hopeful. Publicly most Iranians accept their Islamic identity, however, most are also aware of their pre-Islamic Persian identity. The tension between these competing identities has existed since the Arab-Islamic takeover of Iran in the seventh century AD.
and no, I don't hate jews. I hate the things they do in the name of the now infamous utterance of 'never again'.
Why? because many many others could live under the same sweeping generalization, but have moved on..rather than to remain stuck in the past......

Lived in Iran? humm.
crooked governments?
hahaha
have you lived n other countries. Have you checked out your own government? whether it is here in teh US or somewhere else?
Please broaden your perspective. A 'visit' is nothing compared to 'living' a life there for years and years.
One might say something similar about many countrioes.
What exactly is 'freedom' anyway when the minds of the masses are saturated with what governments want.

I think Iran has every right to protect it's people from a country that has no squibs about fabricating evidence in order to attack another country. I dread the day when the USA attacks Iran it will lead to the decimation of the USA, this country will then be a threat no more to anyone.

The Bush Junta has gotten a lot of mileage out of their Axis of Evil BS. All of this could have been avoided and basically it still could be avoided. First we have to get rid of the Bush administration. Then we have to exit the middle east and stop importing oil from there. Then we have to park a nuke ballistic missile sub not far from Iran. Here's the deal. If you launch, you cease to exist. Now, let's all sit down and make an effort to sort or this out. Let us know when you're ready and we'll show up. Iran has the same bunch of dummies running their country as we do....one less set of dummies would be a good thing and it would go a long way toward allowing the Iranians to figure out a way to get their set of dummies out of the picture. It's worth a shot..worse case the US will have to destroy Iran, but that's on them...we don't have to start this and we'd all be better off if none of us went to war in the first place.

I think any nation has the right to defend itself against unprovoked attack based on lies....sure.....don't we have that right?
America doesn't rule the world. We aren't some "Master Race".
If we need to take out a real enemy, let's do it...but attacking countries based on fear, hysteria, greed or stupidity---what good can come of that?
Attacking Iran wouldn't make the world safer--at best it would postpone a festering issue, which is really America's inability to take advantage of the situation today and form alliances and friendships with those Muslim nations that would welcome it (not Iran, but Turkey, Albania, Kosovo for starters).
But then, that would require an intelligent president with vision, and we unfortunately have an imbecile in the Oval Office at the moment.
So don't attack Iran, rather the American people should elect a good president this time.

If Iran di what they say they will do, the damage the United States would do to Iran will be so overwhelming that Iran will never recover.
The Iranian politicians are very foolish to pursue nuclear weapons. They open themselves up to attack when they pursue the means to produce nuclear weapons.
Personally in my opinion a better response by the United States is to blockade Iran so that they cannot export oil.
Iran receives over 80% of its revenue from the export of oil.
Without that revenue, Iran does not have the money to buy nuclear weapons or the technology for developing nuclear weapons on the black market.
Iran does not have the ability to produce nuclear weapons on its own without buying the technology on the black market.
Blockade Iran, shut off the money from the export of oil and you solve your problem with out attacking Iran directly.

U.S. troops are bush fodder, sitting in an Iranian sand trap, and no one cares.
Iran has been planning on a war with the U.S. defense corporations for years.
Iranian agent Chalibi, promised USA that the Iraq invasion would be a cake walk to get bush to bite.
The plan was to get bush’s military bogged down in Iraq. China and Russia are backing Iran and have sold Iran some of the most modern missiles in the world.
Make no mistake Iran is armed to the teeth, for being at an arm’s length, and are already surrounding bush with Shiites, who bush is actually dependent on.
Laughing at 65 million Iranians, who entered the industrial age (years ago) is the dumbest thing bush supporters have done yet.

Iran have every right to defend its nation. Be it from Iraq (In the past) or USA (in the future).
BTW what right west has to impose their type system to rest of world (Iraq included). Today western ideology has not made world a great and peaceful place to live. See results in iraq....
If west fears of the bomb which Iraq might built in future then what about all that arsenal of nukes which west never likes to talk about.
NPT noose is tightened in the neck of the poor nations which means poor nations are left with NO right or power to defend themselves from the hegemony of the western powers holding all nuke technology and arsenal. Balance of power is disturbed.
BTW the picture of idealistic western democracy is very clear in present day Iraq. where people are being killed by so called preacher and defender of democracy.
Yesterday's Iraq was far better and happy in Saddam's regime than present day George Bush's regime.

in terms of Russia having their way in Israel, with Obama in there, maybe if Obama would not help retaliate. besides the incontrovertible fact that, Obama's chief of team occurs to be the top of Mosad for the U. Iran, many, many, months ago, in fact, about the time it was made known that they had nuke knowledge, made threats in the direction of Israel and the U.S. Basically they said they were going to "punish" Israel in a powerful way.
For what?
What crime had Israel done directly to Iran?
At the same time, Iran's president (one of the guys involved in the 1979 hostage cirsis involving the U.S. Embassy in Iran) threatened to wipe the U.S. off the map for supporting Israel.
So, these guys are just more looneys with nukes. They just need their own personal version of a "good excuse" to throw nukes at people.
Defending their own? Uh no.
What's happened is, they've threatened a whole bunch of people who're now taking their threats seriously.
If they were smart, and not lunatics with nukes, they'd just apologize for making unwarranted threats on other countries.
But they're "radical Muslims," so you know no apology will come to the lands of "infidels."
They are not "defending" their own. They are bullies, picking a fight.
**EDIT**
Not only have I read history, I've known people from Iran and others who used to live in Iran. Iran was, indeed, a wonderful place when there was a shah. When the shah was ousted and the ayatollah took over, it went to hell in a handbasket.
And it really hasn't returned.
Yes, dear, they lived in Iran for years and years. In fact, they left in 1979. Good time for them to leave, I would say. They were very saddened by all that had taken place to destroy the country they had loved so much.

If all they were doing was defending themselves then they have that right, but that isn't what is happening. They are not being honest. They are helping the terrorists in Iraq. It is no longer a pre-emptive strike then on our part. I think we should attack because if they had nothing to hide, they would give us free access which they have consistently denied.
