use the formula y-y1 = m(x-x1) where m is the slope, y1 and x1 are the coordinates of a pt on the lines.

y-(-7) = -2(x-6)
y = -2x + 12 -7
y = -2x + 5

Standard equation of a line: y=mx+b where m is the slope and b is the y-intercept
Given: (x,y)=(6,-7) and slope/m is -2
y=mx+b
y= -2x+b
plugging in 6 and -7 we get -7= (-2)(6)+b
-7= -12+b
12-7=b
b=5
So now we have the equation as y= -2x+5 (equation in standard form)
You can change it into 2x+y=5 (through transposition) too if you want. Same banana. :))
Hope this helps.

A point and slope of the line are given. The equation of line with a point (x1,y1) and slope m is given by

y-y1 = m(x-x1)

here x1= 6

y1 = -7 and

m = -2

substituting these values

y -(-7) = -2(x-6)

y + 7 = -2x + 12

y = -2x + 5 is the equation of line that passes through point

(6,-7) and with slope of -2

you need to set up the equation, for a linear line it is always y=mx+b....m is the slope which you already have -2, and the b is the y intercept which you still need to find

so right now you have y= -2x+b so plug in the x and y you have

-7= -2*6+b.....and you get b=5....so the final equation in y= -2x+5

Equation of line thro`(a, b) with slope, m is:-
y - b = m (x - a)
y + 7 = (- 2) (x - 6)
y = (-2) x + 5

Well, the form you want to use is y=mx+b where m is the slope and b is the intercept.

You already know the slope (-2) so plug it in.

y=-2x+b

Now, plug the point (6,-7) in remembering that the 6 is the x-coordinate and -7 is the y-coordinate.

-7=-2(6)+b

Now solve for b

-7=-12+b

5= b

So, your equation is:

y=-2x+5

do you need an equation or a method?

a good method involves graph paper, a pencil and a ruler.

mark the coordinate, and two other points that would be on a line of that slope. use your ruler to complete the line up through the rest of the graph. hope that helps!!

by the way...y=-2x+5
