The only 2 days of the year Home Depot is closed is Christmas Day and Thanksgiving Day, some of the other holidays have reduced hours.

The insurance can be a big deal in the States. If you get insurance through your employer the company that carries the policy can vary the pre-existing conditions clause, they can be included immediately, after a waiting period of usually a year, or be waived if you can prove you had insurance before taking the position, depends on the policy, but you would still be insured for everything else, but it's not free, there are usually co-pays, any where from $10 - $50 to visit a doctor, it can be quite complicated and quite different from what you are use to. Saying all that there are great opportunities in the US, and broadening your horizons is always a good thing. Conn is not cheap, although there are areas that are less expensive. Living in New York State or Rhode Island and commuting in may be an option for you.

They're open on all holidays, but the big ones...Christmas, etc.
