Nope. It depends on the context and where you are, even within the US. Same happens with Spanish, depending of the country and the context, simple words like cake (in Spanish) can have a weird or negative connotation.

Words like murder and beautiful have clear connotations; but these are exceptions to the rule that different words mean different things to different people.
