This is an extreme case of mental imbalance. Clinical depression can spawn from anything that places a tremendous strain on ones emotion, (death, bad relationship, abuse…) the major part about wether it engulfing a person or not has everything to do with that individual, the way they perceive things and their reaction. What one person might overlook it may cause the end of the world for another. There is no one-way to become clinically depressed, but in order for someone to become clinically depressed, his or her emotions must suffer a serious blow.

It has been proven that depression is hereditary, so i guess that anyone can show signs of depression from very early on in life, or even have a predisposition to having a depressive illness very early on.

You can get a diagnosis as soon as you go to a shrink (ie - mental disorders are handed out like drug samples)
