You need to make a conscious effort to recognize when you are angry, why you are angry and how you are acting at these times. Also note the consequences of your anger and examine these things when you are not angry so you can gain perspective at a rational time.

A psychologist or psychiatrist can help you work on changing the behavior...or work to avoid the things that make you angry. Medications can help cool you down too.

Since you are already aware of your anger problem you should try to walk away from the situation that is starting to upset you. If you do this before you get really mad then you will be able to cool off a lot easier. It is all about keeping them in check and finding a different outlet for blowing off steam. There are other things like anger managment and counseling if you can't do it on your own.

Anytime you begin to feel that anger, stop yourself and just go into another room or outside to be alone. Take a few deep breaths and just relax and tell yourself it's alright.
If you are becoming abusive with this anger problem, it's best to see a psychologist about it so you can figure out what causes you to get this way and what you can do to stop it.
