Hey ya'll! i am currently 15 years old, will be 16 in june of 2008. I want to get emancipated this summer, but I am not quite sure of everything I will need to do, and I don't want my parents to know about this until it is official, so I can't ask them for help. Will they still let me be emancipated if I'm not in an abusive home? I just simply do not like my parents at ALL, and they are way to strict and refuse to let me see my boyfriend. But who do i go to, to get emancipated and like what do i tell them. will i need a lawyer, and will it cost a FORTUNE?? Because my parents wouldn't help me in any way with that. And also, I live in north carolina, will they rent apartments to a 16 year old? Me and my friend are going to rent one. Ya'lls answers would be greatly appreciated, thank you soo much!!!

First, you need a lawyer to file the paperwork. Your parents will need to attend the court hearing. You will need a really good reason to be emancipated. The ones you listed won't work. Most apartments will not rent to anyone under 18 due to not being able to legally sign a contract.

You have to get an adult to help you file papers with the court. The judge will need to see you with a job with enough income to support yourself. Place to live etc etc. You can't say your boyfriend will support you. Boyfriends come and go.
