These used to be more common. Manufacturers may be able to direct you to local retailers that can special order paper overlay panels. Try "PWP", "Abitbi", or "Masonite". These were the leading makers. Weyerhasuser and Georgia-Pacific are othe possibilities.

You have several options 1. spackle and fill in the grooves, sand it smooth and paint. 2. Cover with wallpaper , they sell a fibrous looking one that you can paint or paper over. 3. Hang a curtain, check out pottery barn kids cable wire system they go up to 20 feet. 4. I heard on walls you can use sizing and cover the wall with fabric. It comes down easy and does not ruin the wall. This was on HGTV room by room, a long time ago.

I am not sure where you live, but here in the midwest, Menards carries a line just like that. Typically homecenters will carry line like this. A website you might want to check out is georgia pacific, they make a paneling line, and maybe a dealer locator.

Most anywhere that sells cheap paneling. You can even find drywall with wallpaper on it. Like the stuff used in mobile homes.
