I always have a lot more contacts than fans.

I have alot more fans. I think that it's just a good way you can "secretly chat" while answerings somebodies question. Of course they want an answer so you have to give them an answer. But in a funny way you keep contact with actual friends then having a whole bunch of contacts you don't keep with. Rammie18 a friend and contact of mine just had triplets which is exciting stuff and is why I keep up with my very few contacts I have about 10 of them but because I'm on level 5 I can answering and question as much as I like.
But yer to answer your question I deffenitly have more fans.

I used to have more fans than contacts but I've accidently erased my fans and some contacts now I have less fans than contacts.

I have more fans than contacts....but quite a lot of the people on my fans list have had their accounts deleted.
