I was going to ask this but desided to look it up online first. Did you know that there are LAWS for halloween in some places?
Hampton: Trick or treat begins at dusk and ends at 8 p.m. You must be 12 years old and under to go trick-or-treating. Trick-or-treating is not a holiday, but a tradition. Therefore, the City will not change the day for trick-or-treating. It's a class four misdemeanor if you break these rules in Hampton. However, a parent, guardian or other responsible person, who lawfully has in his custody a child 12 years old or younger, may accompany the child for the purpose of caring for, looking after or protecting the child.
Portsmouth: Trick or treat starts at dusk (between 5:30 and 6 p.m.) ends at 8 p.m. in Portsmouth, where it's a class three misdemeanor for anyone over the age of 12 to engage in trick-or-treating. However, parents, guardians and other responsible persons may accompany a child for the purpose of caring for, looking after or protecting the child.

"I can't believe they have those laws. If a pagan brought them to court they could easily be struck down under freedom of religion. It IS a holiday to some people."

Al though pagan's may celebrate on the same day "Trick or treating" is not part of their holiday. So that would not hold up at all in court.

I never knew there were laws in some places regulating trick or treating! Very interesting! My children are 16 and 14 and they still go trick or treating with their friends. We keep an eye on them from a distance to keep them out of any mischief, while giving them their space. I feel as long as there are no laws restricting it and they behave themselves, there should not be an age limit to trick or treating. Let the kids have fun!

I'm 46 and I still go, usually to have fun and help the other neighbors out. (I live on a hill and many of the neighbors at the bottom get all the trick or treaters, so I put my candy in a plastic pumpkin and give it out down there.)

No laws in my city except for vandalism and disturbing the peace. There are people who do look at this as a religious holiday, so there are no restrictions due to USA amendment rights. If someone wishes not to participate, that household simply can put out its porch lights and not put up any decorations- the trick or treaters will go only to the the lighted, open houses. Limiting trick or treating here would be age discrimination, against freedom of religion and the right to assemble.

But that is my neighborhood. Every place has its own ordinances.

The last time I trick-or-treated I was 15. When I was 16 my mom said I was too old, so I wasn't allowed to go out. 12 is a little young to me. I think the set times are good, that way high schoolers aren't out half the night possibly causing trouble.

i'm 15, that's my final 300 and sixty 5 days trick or treating. i'm purely nevertheless doing it through fact I certainly have a 2 300 and sixty 5 days ok brother i'm taking with kinfolk. Tbh, i think of 15 is the final 300 and sixty 5 days you should, yet permit youngsters carry directly to somewhat greater of there youth, it wont be too long in the previous they're pressured to advance up. youngsters advance up too rapid in recent times that's good to decelerate somewhat. nonetheless in case you're over 12 you are able to desire to have a dress.

I think too old is when you're too old to get into it and have fun. When you start to be embarrassed, you're too old.

Frankly all are welcome at my house as long as they put a small amount of effort into their costume.

I generally run out of candy by 8pm anyway.

Yess eight P.M. is to early. You should get to go out as late as you please. Be any age. Hang out with friends.. Little kids love trick or treat. I did when I was little. It's not very fair.

I love these rules. After 8, it gets to be a bit dangerous to continue to open your door to strangers. Some people actually have kids who go to bed soon after this too, to have the door bell ring can be a bit distracting as well.
