I read one time in a magazine that walking or running is really good exercise when you have your period. The magazine said it releives cramps, and puls, walking/running is good exercise to do anyhow.

I don't think it gets lighter, but working out IS good for your body.

If your period is really heavy, consider birth control pills. My periods are so light now that I have them every three days and I don't have a lot of discharge. I am on Kariva (pill) and its great!

I also work out five days a week but I do not feel that working out is lightening my periods.
