I treat elders with the upmost respect, although my parents have a way of testing my patience. They're soo critical and whiny, I just smile when they're here, hug em when they leave...then pull wads of hair out of my scalp as they drive away!

they certainly don't get unconditional respect just for being old, this is not the 19th century.
however I treat everyone with respect until they give me a damn good reason not too :)
