Probably there are too many programs all trying to start up when you boot. Go Start - Run - type "msconfig" (without the quotes) & OK. Click on the Start tab and I'll bet you find lots of programs selected that really don't need to run at startup. Just deselect them & reboot. This doesn't delete or damage the programs, just prevents them running unnecessarily.

if u have windows xp etc, click start then control panel then select performance & maintenance. the click rearrange items on hard disk. this should then bring up a box that tells u what percentage of ur computer's memory u r using. if it's quite a lot i recommend going in2 control panel as before but selecting add and remove programs and delete any programs u dont need or use anymore also u can click start then search, select music, pics & videos and search 4 them then delete everything off there u dont need. this should free up quite a lot of space.
then do as i first instructed and under where it says how much memory u r using click defragment.
hope this helps

If you have Norton Internet Security, it will take ages to start. Get Norton 360, it starts quicker. Also you can disable the scans which runs every time you start windows.
You can also tell your pc to Hibernate rather than Shutdown. My laptop starts in 3 min form hibernate, and 10 from shutdown

I don't know why some people say it's infected without finding more information out! It could be a number of things. How much memory you have, how many programmes are trying to start at once, are you running a lot of new versions of software as the newer the software the more GB it needs to operate. We need to know what operating system you have etc Please.

Too many factors:
- What operating system are you running? (Is it too heavy for your hardware - think of a Mini engine in the boy of a tank)
- Have you had its performance tuned up (this can be done using Norton 360, popping to your local PC specialist etc etc, checking your windows performance tuning functions etc etc)
Good luck! K
