i've been an extra too, it definitely ets your foot in the door, and lets you see the atmosphere, jsut absorb as much of it as you can, sometimes you'll randomly be given a line, but after a while of being an extra, move on, get an agent, but extras is definitely a good start, pretty good money too, it's also easy to get into the screen actors guild when your an extra enough which is a huge plus, good luck on your career, see you on the red carpet!

It will give some knowledge of the way films are made. It gives you something to help fill your resume, and in these two ways helps with a career in acting.
