if there are so many criminals in the world and many of them go free why aren't we using lie detectors on all of them? when is a lie detector used? in the oj simpson trial he was guilty but he was set free for murder and they didn't use it on him. so what's going on?

a lie detector test can be beat, by either teaching yourself how to make it seem like you are lying on any quetsion asked (even what your name is and how old you are) or by teaching yourself to make it seem like all of your answers are the truth, no matter how big the lie. that's why they aren't submissible in court.

First, the US has a Constitutional protection against self-incrimination: the Fifth Amendment. Therefore a lie detector test of the defendant cannot be used at the trial.
Second, the lie detector is a tool, not a foolproof technique. Some lie detector operators are more skillful than others in interpreting the results. An untrained operator could make a bad mistake.
Third, some people are able to hide their guilt even on a lie detector.

A lie Detector is not always accurate and it cannot be used in court.
