If you're using modern operating systems like, Windows 2000/xp/vista then memory is cleared out automatically. I assumed you're talking about RAM and not hard drive memory.

There could be a few problems if you're experiencing slow performance after time on your computer.

- A progam running in the background could be causing a memory leak (where a program doesn't clean up its own mess, the operating system can only clean up when a program is closed) and therefore over time causes the computer to slow down.

- You're running too many applications for your computer at once causing it to run out of memory and then turn to virtual memory (where it uses your hard drive as a back-up, but it's much slower so can make your computer seem very sluggish).

If you're simply running too many programs, I suggest try running less programs at once, get more memory or defragment your hard drive. Search for a guide online or search windows help.

If you suspect a memory leak try and ensure you're running all the latest drivers for your computer, if you're a bit unsure what that means then running windows update should ease the pain a bit. Otherwise you could try removing all your startup programs and then add them back (if you want them) to try and find the culprit, then you could remove or update that particular program. To remove startup programs, just do a Yahoo/Google search for the answer (or post again!).

Hope that helps!

The simplest way to clear your computer's memory is to reboot when your computer has slowed down. Many programs don't free up all the memory they've used when you close them, and over the course of opening and closing programs when using your computer, this reduces how much memory is available, slowing it down.

If you have to do this several times during the day, you should consider buying more RAM for your computer.

Nope. the size of the discs interior the HD doesnt substitute. all of the suggestion regarding the suggestion stored on the discs is held in a table. the laptop exams the table and sees the place the suggestion is held and is going to that area of the disc rapidly away. of direction once you have a extensive length HD you keep a great number of documents on it so your table is greater beneficial so takes longer for the laptop to flow to that area of the disc. yet once you had 2 HDs, one great and one small, and the two had the comparable volume of documents on it, there would be no distinction in velocity.

It sounds as though your fan is struggling maybe?? Does it make a lot of noise? You can easily take the casing off and gently vaccum the fan - make sure power is turned off though!
