It's time for Wayne to call it a day as a coach. The Coyotes are awful. It's already hard enough to keep Phoenix fans' attention, but with Wayne playing three goalies (what?) and no identity, system or method going on, we are a complete joke. To top it off, we're better on the road then at home. I wish this team would move to Las Vegas.

Midway through last year, the Coyotes realized that this team has to build from the bottom up. So, rather than sign any expensive free agents, they made the decision to start getting younger this year with a few veterans peppered throughout the lineup to help the younger guys. Mueller and Handzal need more time to develop at the NHL level. Turris should be there by the fall of 2009 (Gretzky has said he should play at Wisconsin for 2 years instead of one).

Unfortunately, the team wasted a lot of years (1987 was the last time the franchise won a playoff round) on mediocrity. Now they are asking the fans to wait 5 more while they rebuild. Not an ideal situation if you are a fan, but so far the team is earning kudos from the rest of their NHL GM brethren for finally making those decisions.

Well Wayne probably thinks he is the only thing that gets the fans there. Although he probably is the way he is destroying the team. In the end I think the team would be better off if he would find a REAL coach. You know see Mario down there trying to be a coach do you? Well maybe because Mario understands the BUSINESS end of it. To be honest I would almost like to look in the the NHL's books. I know this is a stretch but MAYBE the NHL and Bettman is paying Wayne to be a coach to try to bring the "average" fan to the games. The NHL can say look "the great one" is coaching. They know they don't need that in Pittsburgh. They know Pittsburgh has it's fans. They also realize that Mario KNOWS the business end from when he was a player and friends with the owner. Otherwise they would probably try to get him to coach so they could hype up the coaching match-up of Mario and Wayne.

Yes, I agree. Wayne never should have started coaching because he could only tarnish his reputation by doing so. Winning one Stanley Cup wouldn't be enough, because everyone would expect that from him. No one would ever say "he was the best player ever and a decent coach." He would have to win several Cups like Bowman or Arbour before people would even consider his coaching as adding to his legacy, and the chances of him being one of history's elite hockey coaches are miniscule.

Don't blame Wayne, he knows as much about hockey as anyone. He might not be the best coach in the league but he's not the worst either. He can only work with what he is given. I'm not sure that changing the coach right now would make things any better. It might even make it worse.

No. It IS time to get a hockey team out of that region of the country, though.
