I wanted to go as a dead marching band member for Halloween this year,
as part of my party's theme,
the Black Parade.
Any ideas where I can get a cheap one fast,
or make my own?

check some of your local high schools... they have old uniforms... just hanging in the uniform room. Probably will not give you one but might let you borrow one.
could also, check with your school board they might also be able to give you suggestions.

The tough part is the hat. Look on ebay or around at thrift stores. Once you find that, the rest is easy.

Black pants, a suit jacket of whatever color the hat is (found at nearly any thrift store). Add some gold buttons (if the suit coat is not from the 80s and doesn't already sport gold buttons). Go to a fabric store and get some drapery cord. Glue some on the shoulders (or the tassels). A little bit for decoration on the front. There you go.

If you want some sexy appeal, go get a seamstress to take it in at your waist. Tell her not to touch the wide shoulders/shoulder pads, but just make the waist tight.

Rough cost:
hat $10-15 (including shipping, from ebay)
drape cord $10
suit coat $5
black pants you should already own
alterations $5-$10

Borrow hot glue gun--but if you dont want to--its about $2. Alterations being optional and If you live near parents or grandparents, you could get old outgrown suit coat from attic for free...but rough estimate

Total cost $30
