Give him a choice - you or the drink !! If he wont stop then get rid of him. Men like this seldom change. I was married to one who started off just being nasty when he drank. I wont bore you but by the time I left him I had 15 teeth missing, a black eye and a broken nose !! Every time he was sorry and the drinking was his excuse. Get out now love , before he gets any worse (unless he agrees a zero drinking policy that is). Otherewise you will live your life like me - afraid of every Christmas, Birthday, Wedding, Funeral etc. because you KNOW he'll have a drink and turn xxx
Just read your update - you sound like YOU are in denial about how bad the problem may get. You say he hasnt been violent - you should add YET to that sentence because he will at sometime - they always do. It wont be his fault though, it never is and you'll end up feeling like the guilty one. Trust me - deal with the problem NOW before it gets worse . I wish you luck xxx

In trying to read through terrible grammar and text message type language, I believe I understand your concerns. Drinking is an escape drug, unfortunately, one that can also cause depression. Typically, if you go into a night of binge drinking sad, angry, depressed, it's going to be a very bad night for all involved. Also, the longer you live the more depressing life can be and will be. This can lead to increased levels of drinking and more dependency. Don't send him to those crazies at AA. He simply needs to make sure he gets a grip on his personal life and any excessive drinking. i.e. Happy life, happy drunk. By the way, just like life, this problem never goes away - it's a battle everyday. If he continues to spiral, though, he will have to give up the booze, but that is premature at this point.

I know how you feel my partner isn't violent either when he drinks but goes on and on about things that happened in the past hes a fantastic partner and dad otherwise we actually went for councelling and it revealed loads of things he couldn't say to me when he was sober We go out now and he has really changed i can relax maybe counselling would help him communicate better with you when hes sober it really works honestly

Simple solution - if he wants to keep you then he doesnt drink. Everyone has it in them to be a nightmare when they're drunk.

leave - now
if you're so happy you wouldn't be writing this question
if you leave him - and you already know you should - he'll either sort himself out or you'll sort yourself out
