Yes men should have equal rights to protect them from domestic violence. I have a friend who was abusied by his ex wife. She would hit him, throw things at him and he never struck back because he was raised that you don't hit women. He was really depressed because he felt he had no where to turn and he was ashamed to go to the police until she stabbed him. Then it all came out, happy to say now he is in a great relationship with a woman who loves him and respects him for the courage to tell his story after all those years of abuise.

Absolutely!

The problem is that most would probably not take it seriously because unfortunately most of society views this problem as a joke.

See...men are viewed as the dominant gender, the stronger gender! I think most men, and some women, would make another man feel as if he is less of a man if he were to step up and admit that he is being abused by a woman. Regardless of whether it's physical, mental, emotional, etc. I believe this happens more than we know, but because of this issue, most men keep it to themselves and it goes unreported. People need to realize that physical strength doesn't always have anything to do with the abuse. It is deeper than that.

Regardless, for those men who do have the courage to report this, should have an equal code that protects them from domestic violence.

Yes and they do. Domestic Violence Laws are for everyone, not just women. Criminal Laws protect those who are not married as well. The laws protect men and children too--even pets have rights when it comes to being abused. No one needs to put up with abuse. If someone abuses you, call the cops, press charges, slap a restraining order on them and let the legal system get them to a professional who can teach them better coping skills, anger management and problem-solving skills. The law is equal for all, but more women report abuse so more women benefit from it. Guys can get protection from harassment orders in family court, restraining orders from their local police and criminal court and relief from the abuse the same way women can. Ever watch COPS? They haul the women off to jail just like the men. I am glad.

There already is one. Domestic violence laws protect both the female and male equally. The problem lies in the male macho image that hows he going to explain to the Judge and his peers how a woman half his size beat the hell out of him. So most men just shut up and nothing ever happens until its too late and his spouse files charges against him for DV and then tries to bring up earlier incidents and its too late. The laws exist to protect men as well as women but men chose not to use them. Also it goes back to a time growing up when a male could or would never tell his dad that he got beat up by a smaller boy or girl (God knows what would happen if he ever amitted that one) in fear of dads disrespect and name calling. Just didnt happen.

I have been wrongly convicted of spouse abuse, I have also been on the opposite side of the fence.my wife and I have had our issues, we have also learned that communicating, and that any violence verbal or physical is wrong, whether your a man or a woman, and the the best thing is to take a time out and re-visit the issue when one of you begin to get angry, but any violence is wrong, any and all issues can be resolved with communicating when both persons are willing to not only listen but hear what the other person is saying

What's good for the goose is good for the gander. There are women out there that can be just as violent as men. They don't just pull hair, scratch n bite,,,honey,,,they throw down with knuckle sandwiches AND brag about it. Let a man strike back and see how they shrivel up into a poor little battered woman in a court room so the judge will feel sorry for them. Male or female, if you're being abused,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,call the cops.

The law provides as much protection for a man as it does for a woman but most men are to embarrassed to use it.Most men wont admit that their wives are violent and uncontrollable. Its a stupid macho thing.
