Does anyone else just hate the sound of Sirens eg as above.
What sort of thoughts go through your mind, when you hear them.

Thanks to those that have anserwed. However I really wanted to get a gauge on what feelings/thoughts/reactions you had when hearing them. Reason is, I just feel so sick and a million thoughts run through my mind. Where r my children, where is my husband etc, etc. Panic like nothing else. Until they get home. :-)

as long as i am not driving the truck i like the sound... well that is when its going down the road, but if im standing beside it, no.... but if im driving nope cant stand it!!!!

You should try asking a Dog. When I was a kid, I had a Dog named Blackie. He didn't like Sirens much but if I recall correctly, he would only start howling when a Fire Truck with a ladder passed by. So, by that, I have to deduce that there must be a difference, even if the difference, cannot be heard by most Human Ears.

Yeah, they're annoying but they have to be. I saw a documentary that it does cause the anxeity level to increase. It also distorts perception of speed. As a former EMT I limited the use of the siren except when necessary. I found that it caused my partners to drive more agressively and therefore unsafe. Unfortunately, they're a necessity.

I know what you mean. Its hard to drown out time to time. It sometimes gets to the point that I become desensitized to it. Where I live especially it keeps me ever aware of the possibility of a terror attack. Fortunately, that hasn't been the case so far.

The sound stresses me out and my thoughts are for the victims of whom these vehicles are saving or helping.

Hate them...I'm always thinking they're coming to arrest one of my kids...or that I'm dying, and the ambulance is for me.

Ambulance: Someone's getting help, hopefully
Police, WTF happened, did they finally decide to bust the meth-head living in the Apt. downstairs, or did one of his customers or dealers finally shoot him
