Most women ovulate about half way between the start of one period and the start of the next. You are most fertile two or three days each side of that day. But be aware that you can get pregnant anytime during your cycle. The rhythm method has about a 25% yearly failure rate, meaning up to 25% of women who only use the rhythm method of birth control get pregnant within one year. Not the best odds.

If you don't know exactly when you are ovulating you run a high risk. The majority of females ovulate 10-14 prior to there periods. However keep in mind sperm can live up to 72 hours in the body.
You run a chance no matter if you are using protection and during your least fertile time.

here is your cycle rundown-The first day of your cycle is the day you start your period. On the 14th day is when you are "scheduled" to ovulate. But, it can happen within a week of that, so take extra precautions from day 10 to 19. Also sperm has the ability to live inside of you for up to 5 days....so, if he goes inside of you on day 9 and you end up actually ovulating on day lets say 11, you could very well get pregnant. Technically, there is NO safe time of the month to have sex without risking pregnancy-even during your period, especially if your periods are a little wacky and not on a schedule. (Start times vary month to month) So, always use protection and be smart about your decisions.

For most women there are two "peak" days for ovulation. About two or three days before i would be especialy careful. about any other time in the month is ok. There is no date that every one gets there period, which means there is no date that every one ovulates which means i can't tell you exactly when your safe(srry). You really SHOULDN'T get pregnant when your not ovulating because the egg is not ready to be fertilized yet, so don't worry about it to much.

Not sure the exact percentage, but you can get pregnant at any time you have sex.

Even using birth control as prescribed, its still not 100% effective.
