Well a birth control pill is a pill that trys to keep you from getting pregnant. Though it is also used to regulate your period. Well you can start using them when your about twelve(normal age for most meds) Also if your having sex it's best to tell your mom(or dad)so you can get on the pill, it's 99.9% effective(nothings ever perfect). And about the age thing, if you have an irregular peiod then you might want to take it now, and if your having sex(even w/ a condom)you should start taking it. Also you have to be ready to comit to taking it EVERY DAY!!!! But once your ready it's a really good thing to have.

They are also used for lightening heavy periods, easing the effects of PMS, helping regulate the periods, and make the periods shorter.

Kids as young as 11 go on it, it really depends on your family doctor and the health of the child as well.
