We had no toys. We had to use our imaganation.Cut out paper dolls from the catalog & played with them. Match boxes where their cars. I had one doll. My Mother made a few changes for her as a gift.
In school, I loved "Hop Scotch", "Jax", "Jump Rope", "Pick up Sticks", "Ring Around the Roses".
Then I remember with cousins & friends playing little card games like "FISH", "OLD MAID", & etc. and then came Manopoly and I grew from there to play board games with my senior friends at our kitchen tables to this very day.~~~~~

I was one of those out-of-a-book kids.

There was nothing I couldn't colour in
Or any dots that could not be connected
No person that could not be drawn like a potato.

But I also loved Postman Knock
where you pick something out of a category and whoevers got chosen had to race the other.

And Grandma's Footsteps!

A game that we invented called "smudge cant do it".
We used to go to my friends farm and they had this huge barn stacked to the rafters with hay bails.
We used to clamber up to the top shouting " smudge cant do it". He was their sheep dog. The more we shouted the more he barked until eventually he would climb all the way to the top.
When we got back down we used to run all round the farm with smudge at our heels.
He was a great dog.
