Propane storage is not allowed indoors, I would suggest having the job done by a professional installer for insurance purposes. and your peace of mind !!

Pretty expensive to pipe natural gas from the city to your cabin. Propane/butane is used world wide for heating and cooking in cabins and regular homes. Have a professional do the plumbing and testing. And yes, most permanent installations use black pipe.

Most propane tanks are piped with soft copper tubing to the dwelling and then changed to black iron pipe when it enters the home. My area (stick built homes) all have propane since there is no natural gas main in the area.

Propane is disastrous. Don't use it inside if you don't have to. The only places that I see it used is in trailers, because nothing else is available. If you absolutely must use it, then remember that propane is heavier than air and depending where a leak is, it can get into a basement an be ignited by the furnace pilot light. The explosion would be catastrophic. Natural gas is used because it is lighter than air.
