Love is many things.
For a couple love is a sharing of each other. It is also a trust. There is no room for jealousy in love.
Love between two men or two women or a male and female is a very special thing, we all need a special friend, someone with which we can share our fears or joy with. This kind of love is a true friendship and is very necessary in our world to-day. If you have such a friend count yourself as one of the lucky ones in todays world. There is also the love of God. God is love and if you are searching for real love look first to God and ask for his help and guidence. Love of your neigbour , do the best you can to help your fellowman , give a litle to those in need if you can, all of these things are love.
Pat.

Love is respect.for a person, in whole or in part.

I love my friends because I respect some things about them - if I didn't, then wouldn't be friends. There are always things I don't respect about them, and that's what kept them as friends and not more.

I respect (and love) my wife in pretty much all ways - no one is perfect, but she comes damn close. I also desire her (of course), but this is more like lust being being tempered by the respect of love.

Romantic love is the result of the biological release of endorphins in the brain. Lots of endorphin gives us feelings of infatuation, connectivity and lots of warm fuzzies when we think of our beloved (the power of love is within the beloved not within the lover)

Spiritual, or true love, means experiencing the trans-personal realms where all becomes one. It is an awakened "state of being" that "unites" all of creation. Compassion.
