I want you to explain to me how you feel. Now I know that there are going to be people against it. Which is fine, but if that's the case I would really like it if you would explain it to me why. Without using cruel language please.

I think it's a good thing. Fully developed characterizations, even if all aspects of a character aren't explicitly discussed, make for better books. The fact that Rowling intended Dumbledore to have had a tragic love as a young man adds texture to his character. The fact that this was a gay relationship also adds texture. Being gay would be one more thing for Dumbledore to deal with--perhaps he encountered discrimination due to his orientation. I'm sure there is homophobia in the magical world, although one can hope there is less there than among us Muggles!

I agree that it was just a publicity thing. (As if Harry Potter needed any more publicity... sheesh...) There weren't any hints or glimpses of homosexuality throughout the whole series, and now that the series is over and not as many people are buying the books, she says: "Read them again! Dumbledore was gay!"

Gotta keep the Potter Ball rolling until the last movie comes out, I suppose.

I am ecstatic about it! There is way too much homophobia out there. Now I suppose people will be saying that Dumbledore probably took Harry aside and molested him... but that's RIDICULOUS. Gay does NOT mean pedophile. And in fact, 98% of men who molest boys are HETEROSEXUAL.

If people could get over their bigotry for a while and use their brains, they might see some of these facts.

It doesn't matter at all.

I think it justifies Dumbledore joining in with Grindlewald's anti-muggle institution.

He was in love with Grindlewald! When your true love tells you muggles are awful and should be destroyed AND muggles abused your sister (raped her!) you're going to side with them. Love blinds you.

I think it was another brilliant decision on JKR's part.

And I'd like everyone to get their facts straight. She was directly asked if Dumbledore had ever fallen in love so she was forced to reveal the truth.

She didn't just randomly decide to do it. She was asked.

I don't see anything wrong with it. If you really think about it, there are hints in the 7th book, but only if you really think. They don't go into it much, and if it changes your view on Dumbledore, or lessens your respect, well, i'd have to disagree strongly. If it lessens your respect or view when he leaves Harry to fend for himself like that or doesn't tell him that he's got to be killed is a different story.

In Deathly Hallow, Albus was proven to be using Harry as live bait to destroy Voldemort. A lot of the dignaty was lost with that.
Snape (yes, I noticed you like Severus) was working for the Order at great personal risk, but his motives could still be seen as selfish ... and the extent of dedication was not clear. Albus didn't trust him to tell him of the Horcruxes, nor the Hallows. Otherwise, the injury from the Ring would have been clearer as to why Albus put a Dark object on his finger.

So now we hear Albus was homosexual, why did Harry and Ginny (active hetrosexuals) want to name their son after him. If Harry had heard, he may have chosen Severus Dobby as a name.

Nothing wrong with it, except that all seems to be just for publicity. JK has just jumped on a bandwagon, trying to make her books even more talked-about.

Who????

Who or what ever someone is, or wants to be. Is something for them. What we all think is unimportant. If we can not accept someone as they are then we have the problem..

If people can accept themselves for what they are, then the rest of us should too.

He would have let us know, if he wanted. It was no business of Rowling's.
