It's is I (for all those grammar pedants).
Yes, I am the one true king of the world, but I am far too modest to mention it in public.

There isn't one.
Christians think it's Jesus, judging by the number of Jesus answers down there, or God which, since he's like my boss in that he's never around when you need an appearance, means that if he's really in charge we're all f*cked. As for Jesus, well, if he ever existed he's dead and I for one do not believe someone who died two thousand years ago is coming back. Have you seen what decomposition does in a week? And you want that to come back?!
Sensible answers think it's oil, and since the whole world goes gaga when it looks like the supply is getting slower I think that's quite accurate.
Closest thing to a king of the world, at least that you could get anyone to agree on, is football (soccer to you Americans... and no one else).
Why? Well, it's liked in every nation on the globe. It doesn't matter what religion you subscribe to, what colour you are or anything, football is what connects you to billions of people around the world.
No one religion can claim it has more followers than football, so if there's going to be a king of the world, it might as well be football.

No one but the contenders include Bush, Putin, Blair and the pope (and I in my dreams, of course)
No one has ever truly been the king (or queen) of the whole word except (in theory God and other deities.) Who would want the responsibility?

The only king, the only lord, the only almighty is God creator of universe and redeemer of the human race. Other than Him there's none else able to equal Him.
