Download another anti-virus, disconect from the internet, uninstall Norton, install the new one, reconnect to the net & update the new one.

Unfortunately, it isn’t always easy to remove all of Norton’s software. But the Norton Removal Tool will help. Just run it after you use the software’s built-in uninstall program at Control Panel > Add/Remove programs

Here's some free ones, only use 1:
AVG anti-virus

PC Tools AntiVirus

Avira AntiVir

As for the guy bad-mouthing AVG, he's wrong on several items. It does have real-time protection, & it updates daily on automatic, plus you can manually update as often as you need. I've updated 3 times a day to test it & I've used it for years with no problems

Before uninstalling Norton, I would recommend F-Secure. I do not recommend AVG as many are suggesting as it is not as good as they believe. For AVG to be worth installing you will need to purchase AVG Pro, which costs. The free version is only a basic AV solution but will not protect your PC in "Real Time". Norton uses too many of the PC's resources and is not as reliable as it was in the late 90s. Many infections go undetected. AVG also has a poor detection rate, unless you purchase the paid for version. Therefore, if you want good protection, with regular definition updates (sometimes more than once a day) F-Secure is the best on the market and it's far cheaper than Symantec (Norton) or McAffee. F-Secure is given free to Barclays Bank On-Line Account holders, in the UK. If a major bank trusts it, for it's customers, it must be good. This month, I have had three Trojan attacks and they were all detected and blocked by F-Secure. One of them, I wasn't aware that it existed but it was detected so F-Secure must be well up to date with their definitions. Norton only release definitions around once a week and AVG release updates around once every two weeks. F-Secure release an update as soon as they have a new definition which is sometimes daily or more than once a day for the highest protection.

I'm assuming that you had a trial version. If it is expired , then it's no longer usefull to you so you might as well delete it.
You do need an active anti-virus program to ensure safer internrt browsing, though.
I recommednd AVG which you can get and use for free from www.grisoft.com

I'd recommend keeping some kind of anti-virus programme on your computer.. If you're not happy with Norton, uninstall it and try another brand.

I agree with everyone else here. Get rid of Norton's and get rid of McAfee...USE AVG!!! It's FREE and it catches way more things than Norton's and McAfee put together. Don't waste your money....get AVG instead !

that is the trouble with norton, it EXPIRES, and you pay more money to renew it, WHY?
download AVG free antivirus from http://www.grisoft.com
note FREE, and it NEVER expires.

Hi,
you should have deleted it before it expired, and just used "AVG" which is far better and a lot cheaper because it's FREE.
