I have seen almost the same dog, but alot shorter & stubby. I don't like that. I like the taller one. Like Hooch in the movie.

A "Spring Board" which is the name given to a mixture of Springer Spaniel (usually English, usually field-bred) and Border Collie. Yeah, because crossing a dog that can jump 6 feet straight in the air from a standstill and takes up to three years to psychologically mature with a dog that can go from 0-60 in 1.2 seconds and has an obsessive need to be working and moving 16 hours a day is a GREAT IDEA ~ sarcasm ~ On the other hand, the name is a pretty accurate description of the insanity of most that I have met...

I know it's not the answer you're looking for, but if memory serves me, the dog was a mixed breed; most likely between the one breed you've found and a bigger dog. I'm sorry I couldn't help you more, it has been several years since I last saw the movie.
