You cant really compare them as players since Ortiz is a DH but if you mean at bat you would have to go with manny just off of pure statistics but pappy sure does seem to hit them at the right time.

Over all player you would have to say Manny because he plays in the field...but then again when Manny was hurt for a month in aug.-sept. it was big Papi's bat that kept the Yankees from catching the Red Sox its not really fair to compare...they are THE BEST together

As a yankee's fan i think it's fair to say that manny is much better. If it wasn't for manny ortiz wouldn't see squat to hit.

yeah, david ortiz is a designated hitter and manny plays outfield, so it's hard to compare the two
david is a better hitter, but i mean, he should be. he's a designated hitter!
manny is incredible at what he does, tooo

I think David Ortiz. The reason why I think this is becuase David ortix is a really good hitter, and becuase he is a pretty good fielder. Also, he is known better, and he has a awesome nickname:big-papi

they really compliment each other so well. they do demonstrate team work.
I would give manny the edge as he plays the field.
David is great but the DH role hurts his overall credability at times.
that is only my opinion
