My mom tells me that I shouldn't take bubble baths because they will make me sterile. Now is this true or is it just an old wives tale? Because she has alot of them that she passes off as honest to God truth.

Don't know about the sterile, but sometimes they will give you UTI's or other infections.

You should probably limit them to once a week or so, and rinse off thoroughly afterwards.

Also, if you are pregnant, you should not do that at all or hot tubs. The high temp of the water can have an adverse effect on the development of the fetus.

My Mom was full of "old wives tales", too, and like you said, most of them have at least a grain of truth to them.

I doubt it will make you sterile, because I know plenty of women who have regular bubble baths and gone on to have children naturally. But I don't think they're very good for you either, they may contain alcohol which will dry your skin out and could give you an "intimate infection", especially because you lie and soak in it for ages. It's better to just put a few drops of essential oil in your bath.

I believe its an old wives tale but I do know that I have always been told that bubble baths are not healthy for us women. Bubble baths(in some women/girls) can cause yeast infection, urinary tract infections because the perfumes, soaps, dirty water your sitting in can irratate you and cause a yeast infection. Maybe every once in awhile but not too often. Showers are the healthy way to go for women, thats what i have always been told by my mother AND Drs.

I dunno about that.. but you can get like yeast infections and dry skin if you take too many or use a lot of perfumey soaps.. they irritate that area and then you'll itch from the dry skin and blah blah blah.. yeah they aren't super healthy but I like'em.. I can spare a scratch or two for half an hour in a bubble bath.. Nowwww if you're pregnant I wouldn't do it just 'cause it's not good for you and the baby.. but then so much for the whole being sterile deal? Whoooo knows!

Your mom is screwed up in the head.

Where'd she get THAT idea?

I've had bubble bath plenty of times, and I'm 33 y/o and healthy.

that's a tale.. take bubble bathes and love them and what it is is that if you take bubbly bathes with a sertain kind of bubbles (they stoped making it a long time ago) it would make you sterile but you can take bubble bathes now.

Being Sterile is a good thing because your clean of all the germs that are on your skin. So what I'm trying to say is that it's just an old wives tale. Hope this answers your question,
