That just came to my attention an English word usage segment on NPR.

I'm sure the libs will demean him for it as well in the name of fairness!

Funny thing is he has a Masters in Nuclear Engineering. But on second thought, maybe his masters is really in nuc-U-lar Engimaneering. I've heard him do this many times, I'm surprised NPR would point this out.

Hey Lina, that's the whole point, Jimmy Carter sounds every bit as stupid as Bush when he talks (even more stupid if you ask me), but the media doesn't crucify him about it because he is a Leftist. And Lina, last time I checked, Carter was a former President, an official position that warrants Secret Service protection. Any former President that wants to talk to the media has their immediate attention, he is technically still a U.S. leader and if he is part of the political dialogue, he should be subject to the same scrutiny as any other leader engaged in political dialog. And fair is fair, the media does make fun of the way Bush talks and does not (and did not when he was in office) make fun of the buffoonish way Carter talks.

I really couldn't care less how Carter says anything,in fact I wish he would just shut up and go away. The only way I even want to hear Carter speak is if he's finally admitting he was the worst President in US history.

Jimmy Carter had a hand in developing Americas nuclear navy which pretty much makes him an expert next to Bush and everyone else

Yes. I am old enough to have voted for Carter (though I didn't), and I remember his mis-pronunciation of the word.

That is one of my pet-peeves........I really HATE it when people pronounce words wrong. Here are some of the common ones that drive me crazy:

Espresso (people say "expresso")
Jewelry (people say "jool-a-ry")
Across (people say "acrost")
Cavalry (people say "cal-vary")
Sherbet (people say "sherbert")

Oh, and I have an aunt who call cottage cheese "college cheese"!!

my rant is over now.......i feel much better.

About 40% of Americans prounce NU-CLE-AR as NU-CU-LAR, including Jimmy Carter who is a nuclear engineer.

As far as I know it is the only word Carter mispronounces whereas Bush mispronounces a lot of words.

EDIT: Babe, I'm glad you are so much smarter than that "looser" Carter.

I never knew anyone ever listened to that looser. I certainly didn't and he was my commander in chief. Yes, it was a low point in my life. Thank God Ronny allowed me to finish my military service with Pride.
In Texas they pronounce "oil" as "ol". So there you have it.

Why is it, that all you bring to this forum is immaturity?
Really is not just you , to be fair , but also those who think as you. Does having a subtenant conversation on relative issues scare you?

The two times I heard President Carter speak in person, he did not mispronounce the word. Why are you lying?
