Hello,
My last menstrual cycle was 9/12/07. I had a normal period but spotted until 9/27/07. I was on the pill at this time (i didn't' take 'blanks' the week of my period - i took the active pills thinking i could stop my period-it didn't work). I stopped taking the when i had 3 blue pills left. I thought I would get my period that Sunday. it did not come. So then i just thought it would come the normal week. it didn't I tested tons of time the entire week my period would have come- nope. (negative)
Well, I realized the pill wasn't for me & made appointment for a tubal ligation. I started taking the pill again the following sunday I 'should' have gotten my period. Well, the night before the tubal ligation consult. i took a hpt and it was +.
he doesn't want the baby. I am not really sure i do either (i do but i don't) .... So don't want to have a surgical abortion. I was wondering if I could really take a few pills. have a wicked bad period and it be over???

RU 486 is NOT the morning after pill (referring to Bryce's AND HB's answer).
Providing an option to surgical abortion, RU-486, or mifepristone, is a drug that causes early medical/chemical abortion in pregnant women by blocking receptors of progesterone, a hormone needed to maintain pregnancy. Early means within 49 days from the first day of the last menstrual period. Combining RU-486 with a low-dose prostaglandin (a chemical substance found in the body, that can also be manufactured artificially, with a number of different effects on bodily processes, such as uterine stimulation or contractions) appears to increase effectiveness without increasing side effects. According to results from clinical trials conducted in the United States and in France, mifepristone is effective in inducing a complete early abortion in 92 to 95 percent of women. Side effects of the drug combination include bleeding, cramping, nausea, vomiting, short-term fatigue or weakness, and occasional diarrhea.
By the way, mifepristone is not the same thing as emergency contraception (also known as "the morning after pill" or ECP). Emergency contraception is available to women who have had unprotected intercourse and are concerned that they could become pregnant. It is a hormonal medication that is taken within 72 hours of intercourse and acts to prevent pregnancy. Emergency contraception, when taken correctly, can reduce the possibility of pregnancy by 75 - 89 percent.

it depends on how far along you are. if you're less than 8 weeks, you can take RU-486, but if you're beyond 8 weeks, you have no choice but to have the surgical. i would do the surgical. it costs less, and it takes a few minutes and you don't feel much pain. with RU-486, it can take days for it to kick in and from what i hear, the pain and bleeding is just awful, and a lot of the time you don't expell all of the pregnancy and then you have to get a D&C. the surgical is less evasive. whatever choice you make, good luck and don't let the anti-choicers bring you down.

surely, i be attentive to those that declare themselves as a "nonbeliever". There are some those that are strictly irreligious. There are others that merely look apathetic. that's not significant to them the two way. God exists. God would not. So what to them. in spite of the fact that in case you think of of your self interior the diploma which you have self assurance in something, additionally, in different methods, you have a disbelief in something else. i'm a nonbeliever while somebody seems at me throughout the eyes of Islam or Hinduism. i'm a nonbeliever while i'm regarded at in connection with Paganism. many of the time while somebody proclaims themselves as a "Nonbeliever" they are putting it in connection with something -- Christianity, God greater often than not, Christ, etc. There are nonbelievers that are Christians by way of fact they disbelieve interior the trinity or different aspects of the religion. you spot, everyone seems to be a nonbeliever in some way. you merely would desire to alter the reference element.

The morning-after pill only works up to 72 hours (maximum, better within 48) after sex, after that if you don't want to have a baby you're going to have to have a surgical abortion. Go to see your Doctor who will be able to tell you for sure whether or not you're pregnant, it's better to be sure either way. S/he will also be able to talk you through your options.

this is a tough one. we prescribe the morning after pill up to 48 hrs after sex because after that it is supposedly unable to stop a pregnancy. i've done tons of reading and can't find where anybody has done tests to see what happens if you take it after the 48 hrs but i have to believe that it doesn't work or they'd be making money selling it that way too. before you make a decision, decide whether you don't want it for sure.
