I was just admiring the beauty of the mums in my gardens and now would like to take cuttings indoors for the winter . I want to 'make' several more plants for more abundant fall colors next year .

Can this be done and will they bloom next year ?

I don't know, but you certainly are well-rounded, aren't you?

Give it a try.

Why not?

I planted my mums in good draining soil they always come back next year.I would let the fall leaves gather around the base of the plants.I would remove (the leaves) early spring. To answer your question. You can try taking cuttings but i'm not sure it will be worth the trouble.

It would probably work. Why would you want to bother? I just saw these huge mums at Home Depot yesterday for $4. It would take years to propagate a mum and get it that size.

Mums are pretty hardy, all you can do is give it a shot. I do it all the time with many of the plants I have, especially African violets, and a giant coleus I take in every year.
I have had pretty good luck with baby mums.

Just separate the plants in the spring and plant them wherever you like.Dig them up and split them in half and you now have two plants.
